zeus' playgound.
last night was the marketing booze cruise. due to unlucky timing of having a lab that is scheduled to finish at 5pm on the night of the cruise, it was impossible to rush home (on public transport during peak hour traffic), get dressed and to arrive in the city before 6.45pm. trang, who also had the same lab as myself had the same dilemma, but our problems were solved as we were offered a lift by alvin back to his house to get ready. alvin's house pretty much became a pit stop to get ready at, as over half of us ended up getting dressed there.
everything rolled along smoothly and in no time we were out of the house. we attracted a number of stares (actually the boys did) where ever we happened to be at. i guess it was hard not to, with roy having a four metre long bright red material draped across his body which was dangling about loosely at his feet, and fred and alvin who wore matching togas, it was hard not to notice and hard not to stare. we met up with the rest of the group at southern cross station after a quick stop at hungry jacks and then ventured in the cold to the pier at which our boat was docked. we needn't feel paranoid about feeling like fools in our costumes because as we approached closer towards our boat, there was a long line of boys and girls all dressed up like us.

the theme of the cruise was: zeus' playground or ancient greece themed. upon boarding the boat, we were swarmed by many boys and girls dressed in togas. there were also a couple of warriors here and there, lots of ladies in pretty white dresses, one cupid, and a topless guy with purple fairy wings (errr?). so like i said, we need not had felt like fools, instead we settled in quite well.

the night started off very slow. had to wait in line for about ten minutes to get a drink while being pushed backwards and forwards. on top of that you had to try and avoid other people's drink from spilling on you. i ended up walking around the boat just once. it wasnt the most spectacular boat or anything, the female toilets were functioning (besides running out of toilet paper half way through the night) and the boat did not sink, so i was pretty happy with that. the night consisted of lining up for drinks here and then again (the line did die down), dancing, obtaining additional costume accessories that were not our own, more dancing, watching people's thongs break - peter and fred, some more dancing, failing to go into the male toilets with milly (to take a pee) because the line to the female toilets was soooo long but was stopped by a lady security guard, more dancing and taking care of a fellow friend that needed some help. time whizzed by and before we knew it, the boat was back docked at the pier. for some of us it was time to go home, but for most of us we headed off to watermark, the place at which the afterparty was held. the afterparty was less crowded, nevertheless we all still had energy pumping through us and danced, drank, sat down because we could move no more until it was time to go home. and i was back at uni today DOH.

in the kids room...
hidden in a corner,
away from the adults,
nobody but you and me.

dear diary.
the mid-semester break went by exceptionally quick. so much had happened, got some studying done (but not as much as i said i would do) and there is so much more that i still want to do. as the break was only a week long, there is only so much you can do without causing your head to spin because you sqeezed in a bit too many activities into one day.

the holiday started off with a charity movie (the boat that rocked) event held at the pines cinemas. i found the seats extremely uncomfortable and had to change the way i sat every ten or so minutes so that i wouldnt get pins and needles. my sleep deprived body and stressed out brain caused by frantically trying to finish a large report worth a chunky percentage of my internal marks may have also contributed to my grudge against the chairs. but they were uncomfortable. a day trip at the zoo to celebrate lyn's birthday was on the following day. the weather was pretty indecisive and could not make up its mind on whether to shine or gloom but im happy that it held up and did not rain as i got to see all the animals minus the frogs.

i stayed at home on saturday, having to hide a very large pimple helped me with the decision. sunday was filled with an outing with the family during the day and by night was filled milly, indi, adam and a (drunk?) stephen k amos. monday was dedicated to sleep. crawled out of bed on tuesday for an early 10am group assignment meeting at the state library. rushed back to glen waverley for a work meeting at 2.30pm and then finally got to drive up to knox by myself to meet up with milly. because boys do funny things on the roads like stay stationary and then swishing of the head from side to side pretending to look for cars even though there were no cars, i got to honk milinda with my horn because he was taking forever to turn. breakfast at mocha jo's with steph on wednesday, however a morning thunderstorm had it almost cancelled, followed by some productive studying at the matheson library. by night i got to test my skills out on the go kart track. i failed terribly and drove pedantically around everyone at a not so fast speed. i got the slowest best time out of everybody! breakfast (yes, again!) at coco lounge with indi on thursday, and spent the afternoon at chadstone. friday was the fast and the furious + snickers pods + the additon of a couple of bruises. something inside me sparkled on saturday, and my sparkling self stayed at home to study although not much was achieved. sunday started off at mid day, and it was again spent at home preparing for the up coming mid semester tests. and to end it off, my boyfriend dropped by to say hello after his afternoon of galloping around.

dear diary, i am super dooper happy.

summer nights are made for...
i had a 21st to attend to on friday night but because it was somewhere in prahran and my designated driver had just started his new kumon correcting/tutoring job up in glen iris and only finishes work at 6pm, i got driven up by mum to his work place to save him the dreaded trip of having to travel back down to glenny during peak hour traffic and then having to drive up again to prahran.

as the party began at 8, it gave us more than enough time to flip through the pages and admire (and criticise) the cars in the magazine 'top gear'. by the time we had finished, there was still enough time to allow ourselves to find a nice place to eat dinner. as the names of shops seem to whizz by very fast when you are sitting inside a moving car, and sometimes it may be a bit unclear, we were however able to catch a glimpse of the word "african" and immediately we wanted to try african cuisine. we stopped and parked the car, and began walking in the direction in which we saw the sign. but as we walked closer to the "african" sign, mind you it was big and bold, our supposedly african restaurant turned out to be a shop that sold african antiques. only just slightly disappointed, only slightly because there were many restaurants surrounding us, and this time we could actually tell whether a shop sold antiques or a place that served food. in the end, we settled at a highly acclaimed and fancy japanese restaurant called aya. what was amazing about the place was that while walking through the resutrant to our table, was that hiding behind panelled walls were those traditional japanese style dining rooms. we could only take sneak glimpses of them because i dont think we were allowed in. (hint, lets making a booking next time). dinner was delicious which consisted of lots and lots of seafood (and sake).

we arrived an hour late to the party but i dont think that mattered because we were not the only late arrivers. the 21st was held at morroco lounge, which i thought had a very very very exotic feel to it. the birthday girl stood out in her beautiful red dress amongst the guests who were dressed in black and white. you could say that the night had ended early but it didnt stop the festivity. we left at around midnight, and to my amazement as we stepped outside we were greeted with the warm night air; something i dont think we will get to feel until next summer.

ps i saw watchmen yesterday. it was a long movie but i really enjoyed it.

happy happy day.
shopping (for a birthday present) followed by dinner at nando's on a thursday night at chadstone has become a weekly milinda and i thing. today was in fact our second thursday doing this. seeing how march is like a month for birthdays, there is a high chance that more thursday night shopping adventures are still to come. i think due to those constant visits to chadstone, milinda now roams the centre like he knows it from back to front (and indeed he does). with his confidence blooming, he likes to point out or turn his body in the direction to a particular shop that we would like to visit. this however was not the case a year ago. one year ago i was the one leading the way and would find amusement at teasing him on how he would get lost without me. now i may never get that chance to tease him again like that, ohh damn!
